FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. Will I need special clothing and equipment?
A. The only requirement for beginners is a pair of flat bottomed shoes or trainers. For roll-ups, dress is informal and the Club
has a stock of bowls for you to try. If you are just starting the game, it is best not to buy bowls until you are comfortable
with a particular size and weight. The dress code for matches will be explained when you join the Club.
Q. Is there help to learn how to play?
A. The Club has three qualified coaches and they will provide tuition on a one-to-one basis in your early days, free of charge
if you subsequently join the Club otherwise £10. Tuesday or Thursday evenings are ideal for beginners as there is a roll-up           organised on an informal basis where you can play with experienced players who will explain the rules and etiquette of the           game. As a bonus, hotdogs and beverages are available and the bar is open.
Q. Can I play at any time?
A. The green is available to members on most days from 11am unless a match is being played or the green is undergoing               maintenance.

Q. Will I have to play in Club matches?
A. Members volunteer their names for individual matches both at home and away; the team selections are made by the Club           captains and your first Club shirt comes at a reduced price. The maximum distance we travel for away matches is
approximately 30 minutes by car and car sharing is often available.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. Members pay a subscription proposed annually by the Club Committee and approved by the members, £80 for 2017.
There are nominal fees payable when playing in Club matches dependent on the catering provided.
Q. What about the social side?
A. The Club has a thriving social side with fund raising events including Quiz Nights, Race Nights, a Bridge Club and Lunches.
In the summer months a newsletter is distributed to Members. The Club has a reputation for its friendly disposition and in
the manner that it plays bowls. There are no pai
d employees and whenever possible the Members carry out any
maintenance tasks but you will not be put under any obligation.
Q. How do I start?
A. Either contact the Membership Secretary or send the Club an Email and a whole new world will open up for you.
